Witness to Innocence speaks out against death penalty and stands with family of Rodney Reed
The day before World Day Against the Death Penalty, exonerees Juan Melendez and Shujaa Graham joined others at a rally for Rodney Reed, a man on death row in Texas with innocence claims. They shared their stories and spoke out against the
use of the death penalty.
A large group of supporters gathered in front of the Supreme Court building to support the Reed family. Rodney's lawyers recently brought a petition to the Supreme Court regarding Rodney's case.
Juan's and Shujaa's voices, as innocent men who were sentenced to death, added a different power to the message and served as living proof of the issues with the death penalty. Death Penalty Action and Catholic Mobilizing Network also joined the rally.
