Former Republican Chief Justice Asserts Toforest Johnson's Innocence, Calling for A Retrial



Former Republican Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Drayton Nabers, Jr. questions why Toforest Johnson, sentenced to death in Alabama in 1998, is still on death row despite substantial evidence pointing to his innocence. Earlier this year, the former Chief Justice joined other former Alabama judges in issuing a brief urging the Jefferson County Court System grant Mr. Johnson a retrial.
