Toforest Johnson's case featured on "Earwitness" podcast

Lava for Good’s new Earwitness podcast covers the case of Toforest Johnson, who has been on Alabama's death row since 1998 despite no physical evidence linking him to the crime, no eyewitness who saw the murder, and no police confession. His case has attracted broad support even from death penalty proponents in Alabama – including the prosecutor who sought the death penalty in the first place, who has now joined the call for a new trial. In the podcast, Beth Shelburne narrates the story of her two-year-long investigation into a conviction that was based on the paid testimony of a single 'earwitness' — an investigation that asks: “How did an innocent man end up on death row — and why is the state still trying to execute him over the objection of the prosecutor who put him there?”
