Texas Court Stays Execution of Melissa Lucio



On Monday April 25, the highest criminal court in Texas halted the execution of Melissa Lucio scheduled to take place on April 27. The Court of Criminal Appeals found that several of the claims raised by her lawyers, including her actual innocence, needed to be considered by a trial court. In a statement released by her lawyers, Melissa said about the outcome, "I thank God for my life. I am grateful the court has given me the chance to live and prove my innocence.
